With health officials across the Federation continuing to urge citizens to take advantage of free breast screening opportunities, the TDC Home and Building Depots have once again reaffirmed their corporate commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting early detection.
Throughout the month of October, the retail stores hosted “Solidarity Saturdays” from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., offering customers and members of the public free breast screenings conducted by a team of certified health professionals. The sessions took place in the specially designated “Pink Room,” a safe, private, and confidential space within the stores created to provide comfort and discretion for both women and men.
Over seventy women and men participated in the activity that also included one-on-one counselling sessions and referral services, where necessary, to reinforce the message that “early detection saves lives,” and the chance to also receive a free mammogram.
The annual activity forms part of the retail store’s community outreach programme, which is specifically designed to inform customers and staff through education about breast cancer, screening, symptoms and treatment, while also further demonstrating the companies’ commitment to giving hope to survivors and inspiration to others who are impacted by the disease.
