Primary school cricketers across Nevis are being given the opportunity to hone and showcase their cricketing skills, as the 2025 Runako Morton TDC sponsored Primary School Cricket Tournament, which bowled off on Monday 23rd June 2025, at the E T W Park in Charlestown, Nevis.
The annual event, named in honour of the late Nevisian born and West Indies cricketer, Runako Morton, this year brings together bringing together eight (8) participating schools, Charlestown Primary School, Violet O Jeffers-Nicholls Primary School, Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School, St. Thomas’ Primary School, Maude Crosse Primary School, St. James’ Primary School, Joycelyn Liburd Primary School and Ivor Walters Primary Schools to compete in a spirited display of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Matches will be played over a four-week period across various community fields and cricket grounds throughout the island, culminating in a grand final and awards ceremony where top performers and outstanding schools will be recognized.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Mr. Ernie France, General Manager, TDC Nevis Limited, stated, “It is our pleasure to once again give our corporate support to this important initiative that gives our young people a positive outlet to develop their skills and talents both on and off the cricket grounds.”
Mr. France added, “The Runako Morton Primary Schools Cricket Tournament is more than just a cricket competition. This tournament honours Morton’s cricket legacy and will also inspire a new generation of cricketers from Nevis, where they will learn the values of teamwork, fair play, integrity, and discipline, all while building school pride.”
The tournament is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Department of Sports, and local cricket development associations. It has become a fixture on the national youth sports calendar and has consistently produced promising talent for secondary schools and National youth teams.
